  • Chinatown is a 4 by 4 block area in east downtown, filled with Chinese-owned businesses and grocery.

    Homes
This neighbourhood is filled with a mix of low-rental warehouses, and walk-up apartments.
Chinatown has a strong ethnic and cultural identity and is one of North America's largest. It is working to revitalize itself to compete with new Asian centres in various suburbs.

    Shopping
This neighbourhood has all of the expected Chinese delights, including an Asian Supermarket. Ordinary shopping is available downtown as well as south on Main Street.
The lesser-known Japantown is also nearby.

    Recreation
Main Street Stores in Chinatown Chinese attractions include the Chinese Cultural Centre, the Lotus Light Lei Zang Si Temple, and Sun Yat-Sen Garden. Other parks tend to be at the waterfront extremities, wither south along False Creek or Portside Park on the water with excellent views of the harbour and the North Shore mountains. Also close-by are the SeaBus terminal to the North Shore, and Stanley Park. To the south are the indoor pursuits at BC Place Stadium, GM Place, The Plaza of Nations, and Science World as well as the city's various performance theatres.

    Schools
The neighbourhood has no schools but is close to the downtown public library. Both Simon Fraser University and BCIT have downtown campuses.
