  • Mount Pleasant is the neighbourhood just southeast of False Creek centered around Main Street. The area is between Cambie Street and Clark Drive from Great Northern Way (2nd Avenue) south to East 16th Avenue.

    The community, with a mix of businesses, warehouses, and homes, lies on a gentle hill rising up to East Broadway and East12th Street. Its also just east of Vancouver General Hospital. It's only 10 minutes from downtown, and has excellent SkyTrain access at the Main Street/Science World station, (and will have a new 12th Ave Station on the new Canada Line of the SkyTrain connecting south to Richmond and Vancouver Airport. .

    Main Street has a number of restaurants, many small stores, and several churches. The community is home to the historic Vancouver City Hall. The area's best landmark is the old post office building on Main Street & East 15th Avenue which has a tall clock tower, and today houses a restaurant and meeting hall.

    Homes
    The neighbourhood has a mix of walk-up warehouse lofts, apartments, houses and houses divided into rental units, which make this close-in community affordable for families, single-parent families and low-income earners. The community is getting a number of new the townhouse and low-rise condominiums which innovatively combine work/live spaces and retail on the ground floor.

    Shopping
    Most shopping in the area is along East Broadway and toward Main Street. This stretch of Main Street is known for its interesting coffee shops and clothing stores. The community is popular for Asian / South Asian cuisine restaurant. The Kingsgate Mall (Kingsway & E Broadway) also has a public library. Along Cambie are a wide range of retailers and City Square an urban mall with many retailers. Along East Broadway is the Campers Village shopping district featuring the top outdoors retailers.

    Recreation
    Mount Pleasant is close to the east end of False Creek, the recreational pathways and Science North. The beaches of Kitsilano, and the fun at Granville Island, are not far away.

    Schools
    The community has an elementary school, a secondary school and a public library. The East Broadway area is full of post-secondary institutions, including BCIT's Great Northern Way campus, Vancouver Community College's King Edward campus.
