  • This community is the heart of Etobicoke, and was home to the former Etobicoke City Hall and City Centre. Located between Rathburn and Dundas, and from Kipling west to Renforth Creek, the community is home to families of diverse incomes and cultures. Originally an 1800s farming community, Timothy Eaton (of Eaton Stores fame) bought much land in the area for a farm, and donated some of it for a local school, which was named Eatonville in his honour. When the farm was subdivided for development I the 1950s, the Eatonsville school was rebuilt, and in 1980 the historic Peter Shaver "Applewood" homestead was moved to The West Mall to be a museum.

    Schools
    This neighbourhood is serviced by three public elementary schools, 2 Catholic elementary schools, a public high school, and a public library. University of Toronto is easily accessible via the Bloor-Danforth subway, and Humber College Lakeshore Campus is accessed via the #44 Kipling bus

    Shopping
    Locals shop along the Bloor Street shopping district, west of Kipling Avenue, at The Westmall Bloor Plaza (Bloor Street & The West Mall) and along Dundas Street, which also has two shopping malls (both at the East Mall): Cloverdale Mall with over 100 stores & services, and the Honeydale Mall. Power shopper head to nearby Sherway Gardens Mall, just west of Highway 427.

    Eatonville has access to two great recreational pathways, The Mimico Creek pathway in the east to West Deane Park, and the Renforth Creek pathway to the west to Centennial Park (both connect via a pathway on the south side of Eglinton to the Humber River pathway to Toronto;s waterfront. Just off the West Mall is the James Shaver "Applewood Homestead" Woodsworth House history museum and community hall. There area a number of parks with tennis courts, a baseball diamond, and a children's playground. The community also has two ice arenas and two outdoor swimming pools, and a running track.

    Homes
    Homes east of Highway 427 were built in the 1940s and 50s, and are typically detached bungalows, one-and-a-half-storey homes, and Cape Cod style two-storey houses. Recently, bungalows in the area are being torn down and replaced by custom-designed new homes. West of Highway 427 are homes built in the 1960s and 70s. These homes are bungalows, semi-detached houses, and large detached two-storey homes. Along The West Mall and East Mall and along Burnhamthorpe Road are a number of rental and condominium high-rise apartments and townhouses. Homes prices in Eatonville are in the low to middle price ranges
