  • Humber Bay is straddled on the west by the Mimico Creek and on the east by the Humber River meanding through marshlands into Lake Ontario. This community has gently rolling hills, mature trees, and of course lots of water. This community was settled in the late 1800s, and was a market garden area growing fruit & vegetables for Toronto, leading to the creation of the Ontario Food Terminal, By the 1920s the area had significant industry and population. Today the lakefront ha significant condos, where a popular motel strip used to be, while inland of the Gardiner Expressway and The Queensway is the sewage treatment plant.

    The community is minutes from downtown, via the Gardiner Expressway by car, or by TTC streetcar

    Schools
    The community is served by 2 public elementary schools, an Catholic elementary school, an public high school and a public library.

    Shopping
    Locals can get most of their daily needs at Stonegate Plaza (on Berry Road), with the big box and shopping malls a bit west on The Queensway providing a convenient location for any power shopping needs. Downtown Toronto's shops are only minutes away to the east.

    The community overlooks the Humber Marshes, with ready access to the Humber River and Waterfront Trail paved recreational pathways, which are popular with runners, cyclists and bladders. Humber Bay Park, has a yacht club, a boat launch, views of Toronto, and access to a beach on the east side of the Humber. Ih the community is a multi-use recreational facility with an ice arena (indoor tennis courts in summer), and outdoor pool and a baseball diamond.

    Homes
    Humber Bay has some smaller, older houses from the early 1900's which were used by the area's once flourishing market gardens. Newer houses in the community are typically bungalows, split-level houses, multi-plex dwellings, low-rise apartment buildings, with a recent surge of custom-built homes. Many homes overlook Mimico Creek or the Humber River. Along Lake Ontario is anew high rise condo development, Humber Bay Shore, accessed from Lake Shore Boulevard. Homes in this community range from low priced to medium-high priced
