  • The Queensway, north of the Gardiner Expressway and west of Royal York, is close and convenient to downtown Toronto via the Gardiner Expressway, yet close to lakefront recreation at the mouths of the Humber River and Mimico Creek. Queensway was a rural farming community until urbanization around 1910. Today, the area south of The Queensway includes many "big box" stores, while the area north is quiet residential surrounded by light industrial that extends north of their railway tracks and west to Highway 427.

    Motorists can travel into downtown Toronto only ten minutes away via the Gardiner Expressway. Those heading west or to the airport can access the Queen Elizabeth Way via Islington Avenue. TTC bus service on Royal York Road and on Islington Avenue connects to stations on the Bloor-Danforth subway line. The Kipling station endpoint for the Bloor-Danforth lines connects to GO Transit, the Pearson Airport express bus service, and to the Mississauga Transit system.

    Schools
    The area is served by 1 public elementary school, 3 Catholic elementary schools, 1 public high school; and a public library. Humber College's Lakeshore Campus is accessed via the 501/508 Lake Shore Blvd bus.

    Shopping
    The Queensway has everything from Big Box stores to small shops to malls. From west to east is the IKEA store, Kipling Queensway Mall, and the Price Club. Just south of the area is the quaint Mimico Village shopping district on Royal York Rd.

    Queensway residents can access South Humber Park, which overlooks the Humber Marshesand has access to paved recreational pathways up the Humber River and east along Toronto's waterfront. The community has two parks, two baseball diamonds, four tennis courts, children's playgrounds, an ice arena, and a running track.

    Homes
    The oldest houses in The Queensway neighbourhood include some pre-development houses near Mimico Creek. Most houses in The Queensway were built in the 1940s & 50s which are two bedroom brick bungalows and storey-and-a-half houses with driveways and garages. Around Queensway Park and smaller homes for War Veterans housing built in the late 1940's. The east end of the community, south of The Queensway ha a number of multiple-unit rental properties and townhouse developments. Houses in the community are in the low-mid price ranges.
