  • West Deane Park, between Martin Grove Rd and the East Mall, straddles West Deane Park along Mimico Creek. The community was farmland until development was started ed by Percy Law in the 1930s. In the 1960s, Law sold his remaining hobby farm to developer Edmund Peachey, who named the community for his wife's maiden name. This is a quiet neighbourhood, and the Mimico Creek parklands are home to wildlife that includes groundhogs, skunks, raccoons, coyotes, fox, beaver, and deer, and birds like pheasants, bluebirds, and red-tailed hawks.

    Motorists have handy access to Highway 427 South, Highway 27 North, and Highway 401. TTC bus services on The East Mall and on Martin Grove Road connect to Kipling Station (Bloor-Danforth subway). From the Kipling station, you can connect to GO Transit, the Pearson Airport express bus service, and to the Mississauga Transit system. The east-west Rathburn Road bus connects to Royal York station (Bloor-Danforth subway) and the Eglinton Avenue connects to the Eglinton West station (Yonge-University-Spadina subway) line.

    Schools
    This community has a public elementary, a Catholic elementary and a public high school.

    Shopping
    West Deane Park open meadow Residents can do some shopping at the East Mall Plaza (on West Deane Park Drive) and also on The East Mall south of Burnhamthorpe, and at Cloverdale Mall, on The East Mall south of Bloor.

    Recreation
    West Deane Park is situated in the scenic Mimico Creek Valley, and has paved recreational pathways, a children's playground, two baseball diamonds, an outdoor pool, a wintertime outdoor rink, and a shaded picnic area. The north end of the park is home to the Martingrove Tennis Club.

    Homes
    Most homes in West Deane Park were built in the 1960s when ranch-style bungalows, split-level homes, and Georgian Revival were popular. Lots are generously sized and have private driveways and attached garages. Along major throughfares, there are some row-houses. You can find 1908s-built homes around Beaverbend Road, which are larger and more modern. Home in this neighbourhood are low to medium priced.
