    The Town of Fort Erie has 27,183 people living on 168 square kilometers located along the Northeastern shore of Lake Erie at the Southern mouth of the Niagara River. Fort Erie has small town flavour with big city amenities from the City of Buffalo, New York just 10 minutes across the International Peace Bridge.

    The municipality is mostly rural with most of its population clustered in four urban areas. Average 2 bedroom houses running $118,000.

    Cottages in Crystal Beach Fort Erie itself is nestled against the west bank of the Upper Niagara River, and includes the lakefront communities of Waverly Beach and Fort Erie Beach, Fort Erie West with its retail zone, and the well laid-out Fort Erie and Fort Erie North. Fort Erie has significant light industrial & warehouse mostly to the north of the QEW, reflecting its location as the number one border crossing in Canada, providing lots of jobs to residents.

    There are lots of single family homes to the north of Fort Erie, just off the Niagara Parkway which winds along the river, with several urban clusters along Black Creek, including Douglastown & Stevensville with several conservation areas and recreational zones nearby.

    To the west of Fort Erie are the lakeside communities of Crescent Park (with the smaller neighbourhoods of Crescent Beach, Rose Hill Estates, Edgewood Park and Buffalo Heights), and further west the Ridgeway / Crystal Beach / Thunder Bay community, with their great beaches (especially popular with windsurfers and sailors).

    Fort Erie has 13 elementary schools, 3 private schools, 2 high schools and a library. For post-secodary education, students will need to commute to Niagara College in Niagara Falls, or Brock University in St Catharines.

    Shopping
    For Erie has anumber of shops clustered in its downtown, north of the Peace Bridge, along Garrison Rd to the west of the bridge, and aother significant retail cluster in Ridgeway. The nearest shopping malss are to the north in Niagara Falls, west in Port Colborne, or across the border in Buffalo.

    Recreation
    View of Buffalo skyline from Fort Erie Fort Erie has 3 arenas, 6 marinas, 12 baseball diamonds, 5 community centres, 1 indoor pool, 15 public tennis courts and 4 golf courses. The city has a number of museums and historical sites, dating back to the War of 1812, including Fort Erie to give residents a great sense of history. The area has a number of Conservation Areas, and Black Creek is popular with the canoeists and kayakers. The Nigara Recreational Pathways stretches from Fort Erie north 56 kilometres to Niagara on the Lake and is sutable for running, biking or rollerblading (please wear protective padding & helmets). There is also the 13.6 kilometer scenic pathway is Fort Erie Friendship Trail to Crystal Beach (and beyond). The beaches of Lake Erie are popular with sailors and windsurfers, especially at Crystal Beach where they get some protection from westerly winds by Point Albino. For those that would rather watch than do, the Fort Erie Race Track and Slots are one of the premier thoroughbred horse racing tracks in Canada. They are home of the Prince of Wales Stakes Race at the end of July, which is the second leg of the Canadian triple Crown.
