Where
The Town of Wainfleet has a population of 6,000 and is and agricultural community located approximately
15 miles West of Port Colborne along Highway # 3.
Once known as Marshville, the hamlet was established in the 1820's when a tavern and hotel where
built where the road, now Highway #3, crossed the a feeder canal used to ship agricultural products to
the second Welland Canal (between 1840 and 1881) and beyond. The canal was closed, following the extension of the Welland Canal to Port Colborne in 1890.
Today the community has vibrant businesses, an excellent school system, and a host of amenities.
The area serves as a bedroom community for people who work in nearby Welland, Port Colborne and St. Catharines.
The Village of Wainfleet is the heart of Wainfleet Township, and has craft stores, an antique store, post office,
Marshville Chocolate Factory, and other stores. Chamber's Corner has a gas station,farm equipment, variety store, tavern and several restaurants.
Long Beach, along the Lake Erie shoreline, is primarily a summer community with some year-round residents.
Facilities include mini-putt, restaurants, fast food stands, a nine hole golf course, convenience store, and a May to October Farmer's Market.

Wainfleet has 20 miles of Lake Erie shoreline and follows many miles of the Welland River. Long Beach Provincial Park provides camping and swimming areas along a half mile long sandy beach.
