  • The township of Scugog, located 65 kilometres northeast of Toronto, is situated around the shores of Lake Scugog, one of Southern Ontario's largest bodies of water. Of the 20,000 residents, about 7,000 live in Port Perry, which is accessible by highways 12, 7 & 7A. Nearby Linday has another 17,000 residents.

    Port Perry has 6 elementary schools, 7 secondary schools, 2 separate schools, and a christian school.

    Shopping
    Port Perry has a Victorian downtown shopping district, as well as a full range of services.

    Recreation
    Great Blue Heron Charitable Casino on the First Nations Mississauga Indian reserve on Scugog Island. For a taste of culture, Port Perry's historic former Town Hall is the site for music and theatre. The Nonquon Wildlife Area offers hiking, canoeing and one of the best birding habitats. Summers sizzle with events like Festival Days and the Highlands of Durham Games. Agricultural fall fairs and farmers' markets are enjoyed. Lake Scugog provides excellent summer and winter leisure activities, golf, fishing, boating, local parks and playgrounds, skating at 2 arenas, snowmobiling. Historical attractions include Scugog Shores Historical Museum, Scugog Memorial Library, Mississauga of Scugog Island First Nation, Home of David Palmer (Founder of Chiropractic), The Great Blue Heron Charity Casino, and the 1873 Town Hall.

    Homes
    The township has several hamlets and villages. Housing is affordable and ranges from cozy apartments, century homes and waterfront properties, to rural acreage. Empty nesters are drawn to many of the current developments, which include subdivisions with golf courses. make for breathtaking sight seeing.
