  • These centrally located communities are popular with singles, young couples and families, to enjoy the area's recreational facilities, parklands, outstanding shopping, and the many bars, restaurants, cinemas, and live performance theatres. These communities lies just south of Eglinton, with Chaplin Estates west of Yonge to Avenue Rd, and north of the Beltway recreational trail, and Davisville Village east of Yonge to Bayview, north of the Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Davisville Village is named after John Davis, an English immigrant who was the community's first postmaster, founded the Davisville Public School, and ran the Village's largest employer, a pottery manufacturer. The southern part of Davisville was developed in the 1860s, and the northern portion was developed after 1911, when the street railway came to North Toronto. Chaplin Estates has long been one of Toronto's most exclusive addresses, and was subdivided in 1913, and named for the Chaplin family which held land in the area since 1860. The community was fully developed by the mid-1920s. It is favoured by city's wealthy for its proximity to downtown and to private schools: Upper Canada College for boys, and Bishop Strachan School for girls..

Motorists are 15 minutes from downtown Toronto via either Mount Pleasant Road or Yonge Street. The city's major highways are 20 minutes away. TTC has regular bus service along Yonge and Eglinton, with rush hour service along Avenue Rd/Oriole Parkway and Mount Pleasant. The community is adjacent to the Yonge-University-Spadina subway route, and within walking distance of the subway station.

Davisville's main shopping district is on Mount Pleasant Road which is best known for its antique and collectable shops, and restaurants. The shopping along Yonge and along Bayview is also quite varied, with a grocery story & multi-screen cinema at Yonge & Eglinton. The Eglinton Way' s high-end shopping district along Eglinton is favoured with Chaplin Estates residents, for whom Yonge Street is also convenient. The area's trendiest restaurants and cafes are along Eglinton.

    Recreation
The paved Beltline Recreational Trail, which follows the route of the long-gone Beltway railway line, is popular with runners, cyclists and bladders and runs northwest toward the Allen Expressway before turn back southeast through Cedarvale to Casa Loma. The neighbourhood has a number of smaller parks and playgrounds, a tennis club, several baseball diamonds, with an indoor pool, outdoor pool, and ice rink just north of Eglinton. This area also has great nightlife with restaurants, pubs, cinemas and live performance theatres.

The majority of Davisville and Chaplin Estates homeswere built in the 1920s and 30s. Davisville homes west of Mount Pleasant Road are mostly large 2 or 3-storey English Cottage and Edwardian-style homes. The neighbourhood also has duplexes and walk-up apartment buildings. The houses east of Mount Pleasant are smaller detached or semi-detached homes or bungalows. Davisville also has clusters of high-rise apartments and condos closer to Eglinton and south of Davisville Avenue.
