  • This little island of homes is south of Overlea Boulevard and a bend in the Don River Valley. This self-contained live-work-shop-play community is home to many new Canadians. The community is named for the name early 1830s settler George Taylor gave his home. The farm changed hands a few times, being a horse breeding ranch, a trace track in the early 1900s, until purchased by developers in the 1950s. Today, the community has a high density of low-and high-rise rental apartment buildings that are home to over thirteen thousand residents.

    Motorists have access to the Don Valley Parkway (Highway 404) via Don Mills Road to get to either downtown or Highway 401. TTC bus service along Overlea Boulevard and Thorncliffe Park Drive connected to the Pape station on the Bloor-Danforth subway line.

    Schools
    The community is served by 2 elementary schools, 1public high school, and 1 public library,. Nearby colleges includes De La Salle College on Avenue Road at Farnham, George Brown College just south of Davenport, St Michael's College nearby at Bathurst & St Clair. University of Toronto is accessed via the Bloor-Danforth subway, and York University's Glendon Campus just north on Bayview Rd.

    East York Town Centre Entrance Shopping
    The East York Town Centre is a 70 store shopping centre in the middle of a community on Overlea Boulevard, with a small strip mall adjacent.

    Recreation
    The community has access to the Don Valley recreational trail system and to Ernest Thompson Seton Park. Across the park /Don Valley is the Ontario Science Centre, with its bold architecture. The community has a community centre, a gym, a sports field with 2 baseball diamonds, 1 outdoor pool, and 6 tennis courts.

    Homes
    This area is full of high and low rise rental apartment builds and several new condominium buildings. Homes in this community are in the low to low-medium price range.
