Rexdale, The Elms - Etobicoke (Toronto) neighbourhoods
Rexdale lies south of the picturesque West Humber River Valley and has a wide airport-area industrial corridor to its south. Rexdale was farmland until the1950s, when developers anticipating Highway 401 and the growth of nearby Pearson Airport (then just called Malton Airport). Rexdale's residential and industrial lands were fully developed during the 1960s, and many home buyers lived and worked within the community.

Rexdale and The Elms are served by 5 public elementary schools, 2 catholic elementary schools, two public high schools, a private school and a public library. Rexdale is not far from Humber College's North Campus. ShoppingThe Rexdale Plaza on Rexdale Boulevard at Islington Avenue has a large Asian supermarket and a public library. Heading west along Rexdale is a shopping strip that continues to the Woodbine Centre at Highway 27, with nearly two hundred shops, and popular indoor amusement park and cinema. Across the street is Woodbine Race Track. RecreationRexdale has a number of parks with wading pools, and Falstaff Park has an outdoor swimming pool. There are a number of tennis courts, baseball diamonds, and a wintertime outdoor rink. The community has access to the 5.5 kilometre paved West Humber and Humber recreational trails which are popular with walkers, joggers, bladers and cyclists. There is also a seniors centre, a lawn bowling club, two arenas, an indoor and an outdoor pool, a golf course, and the Woodbine Race Track which offers thoroughbred racing during the daytime and harness racing in the evenings.
