  • Oakville's famous Glen Abbey Golf COurse Oakville has a small town ambiance and is home to 152,000 people, and well located to highways (including the Queen Elizabeth Way, the 403, 407 and 401) and has excellent GO Train and VIA Rail transportation connections to Toronto, as well as to the Windsor-Ottawa - Quebec corridor, with Amtrak service to the US from Toronto.

    Oakville is home for 4,500 businesses and over 260 major head offices, including the Ford Motor Company of Canada. Average household income in Oakville is estimated at $97,550, about $18,000 more than comparable GTA figure.

    This historic Town, founded in 1827 around the mouth of Sixteen Mile Creek, has preserved its rich heritage especially in the downtown area where many buildings dating back to the 1800s house over 400 shops, services and restaurants.

    Sheridan College Schools
    Oakville companies have access to a high quality local work force as 58 percent of residents have a post secondary education. This level of education is 38 percent greater than the provincial average. East Oakville has 3 public high schools, two Catholic high schools, a public library and is home to Sheridan College. It is not far from University of Toronto's Mississauga campus.

    Shopping
    This part of Oakville has a number of shopping centres, generally clustered around the QEW, as well as a cluster of "big box" stores along Dundas, just inside Mississauga. Most importantly downtown Oakville, Between Randall and Lakeshore has a charming (and historical) retail district with not just shops but restaurants and professional services.

    Recreation
    Oakville's Marina Oakville has lots of golf, live theatre, a vibrant waterfront and a network of well-marked nature trails. The east side of Oakville has five golf courses and is home to the internationally famous Glen Abbey Golf Course. The downtown is home to a performing arts centre, and there are several movie theatres including a 24 screen muliplex. The downtown's harbour has slips and moorings for sail and powerboats. l Bronte Creek Provincial Park at Oakville's western end has a number of attractions and year-round camping. This part of town also has a number of ice arenas as well as both indoor and outdoor pools and a public beach for summer recreation.

    The strong residential development industry adds to Oakville's broad range of housing options. Executive homes fun about $250,000, smaller detached homes average $290,000, and condos are available around $200,000
